Trolex at a glance
Why Trolex?
Founders
Set up by our founder, John, in 1960 Trolex was founded as technical sales agency dealing in safety devices for the mining sector. What was to follow was testament to John’s determination and passion for making industry safer and more productive.
With the British mining industry practically non-existent, John saw the opportunity to expand across a range of other sectors including oil and gas, construction, the stone industry and many more, made possible thanks to the foundations and principles he’d first established.
With John’s experience in the industry as a lifelong engineer he’s always been determined to pass on his wealth of expertise to the next generation. And with 60+ years’ of engineering success, consistent industry acclaim, a loyal international client list, and a brand-new range of award-winning particulate monitoring products, John and his team know exactly what the future of the industry needs.
Glyn’s role as CEO at Trolex is demonstrative of exactly how Trolex do things on a day-to-day basis. It’s perhaps the least ‘just because things have always been done this way, they need to always be done this way’ approach to ever be taken in an engineering and industrial setting.
Since working at a successful media and technology company based in London, over the last 10+ Glyn has overseen Trolex evolve into a recognisable engineering powerhouse, with a modern mindset and truly innovative products, with the formalities and business talk, but taking a more personal approach.
The shared ambition that Glyn has helped instil across the Trolex, our rapidly growing client list and consistent new customers in the particulates field across our world-wide distributor network, all seem to clearly recognise and genuinely appreciate the end goal of providing real-time particulate monitoring for those employees at risk from exposure.
An experienced geologist with a background in mineral exploration for multinationals in Tanzania and Zambia, Lee has been back at the family business since 2008, responsible for operational and strategic management.
Lee divides his time between reviewing the legacy portfolio – 60+ years of legacy that goes all the way back to the early days of the National Coal Board – and exploring how lessons from more than half a century designing and developing products for dangerous environments can be applied to modern industry.
Lessons well learnt it would seem, with a new range of innovative and acclaimed particulate monitoring products regularly being launched, alongside the future of gas detection for underground mining and tunnelling applications. Lee’s ensured Trolex are consistently seen as a wholly innovative, independent, privately-owned business, and accountable to their ambition as well as their foundations in hard-working British industry.
